"Becktables" This unique commission designed for a good friend and client. Her family wanted original art pieces in the family room of their historic home with limited wall space. Her solution was to create 2 tables that could become the central art pieces in the room, These "Becktalbes" both with an "A side" & a "B side" are my mixed media drawing/painting compositions inspired by writing the lyrics from the songs of Beck, a favorite musician of the family. Pair, each measure 23"Hx22"Wx6"D each, with a gold leafed base.
Boat Tracings for Pierre Bayou Oil, acrylic, drawing media, varnish on birch panel. 40” x 60”
This piece was commissioned as the only art piece in the entry for the family's beautiful new home on Pierre Bayou. The painting was developed as their house was being constructed, and we worked together to incorporate personal information and a palette that would be significant to the family. These boat tracing images are part of an ongoing series I began when I was very young. I would trace outlines from toy wooden boats my father would carve for me and become immersed in the activity.
Large oil painting on canvas diptych created for this beautiful main entertaining room in a Garden District home.
Fun fact: you can still see me working on the under-paintings for these in the video montage held in the House & Home exhibition at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C.
