Schleh + Sabin Collaborations
Schleh and Sabin first met in graduate school at LSU in Baton Rouge in 1993, and have remained close friends and colleagues ever since. Both artists currently live and work in New Orleans and are represented in New Orleans by Callan Contemporary.
In their collaborative work, they combine Schleh's distinct atmospheric backwards script with Sabin's floral ceramic sculpture. These compositions are inspired by observation of the landscape and the human form. Through the merging of their aesthetics they hope to instill the same sense of wonder and contemplation that is achieved when one is discovers beauty in our natural world.

Schleh + Deris "Bobbery" 2013-2015
"Bobbery", literally translated is a "hub-bub" or a brawl. This is the name we chose to describe our combination of aesthetics, skills, and humor used to create our sculptural inventions and animated toy-like paintings which nod to the early mechanics and beauty of Victorian arcade machines.
